All About Mr. Billy

jobday.jpg

Hello, my name is Mr. Billy, I'm a full time Children's Singer Song-Rocker from Wisconsin.

If you're looking for extremely fun, upbeat, educational, contemporary music for kids and families you've come to the right guy.

I offer extreme kids music concerts, educational workshops and residencies. I have a wide variety of programs that can fit any need that involves kids.

Most programs come with an acoustic, electric duo or FULL BAND option to accommodate any size audience or budget.

I present hundreds of programs each year, and have toured from Florida to Alaska. Library reading show's and elementary school assemblies are my specialty, I am no stranger to large family/corporate events (fairs, festivals, etc.).

All About Me...

I was born in Philadelphia PA (in the sixties!). My dad was a semi famous jazz musician that worked with Rosemary Clooney,  Dizzy Gillespie. Stan Getz and others.  My grandfather was a big band leader and my mom was a lounge singer. Music is that family business. My first band was my mom, dad, granddad and me.  I began playing guitar and writing my own songs when I was only 9 years old.

We moved to New Jersey when I was young, I attended Atlantic City High School. before gambling, I loved it there!

Since then I toured all across the USA and Canada in rock and pop bands and had minor regional hits with my band Billy Zack and the Attack.

I took several years off from music to peruse a career in marketing, it wasn't until I visited my son's kindergarten class that I chose a career in children's music. I have tried to create a unique rock and roll style has a contemporary sound that kids (and parents) will instantly relate to, I call it Extreme music for kids. At a Mr. Billy show, everyone gets into the act. My  presentations are always upbeat, interactive, educational and just plain fun!

I have been repeatedly voted “Northeastern Wisconsin’s Family Favorite Children’s Entertainer”; my original CDs are iParenting and CMW national award winners. In 2006 two of my original songs
placed in the top twenty in the Unisong International Songwriting Competition.

I am a graduate of Reggie White's Urban Hope business school, but I guess I am best unknown for writing and recording all the songs for Pull Ups  Big Kids Central DVD, over 3 million have been distributed. I also co-wrote the "I'm a Big Kid Now" jingle/song.

One of the favorite things I do is guide elementary school students in the composition and recording of their own original songs at  “Six-Trait Songwriting” Artist in Residency programs. I also contribute regular columns to “Pass it On” (journal of International Organization “The Children’s

Music Network) and other children’s and parenting magazines. I perform at over 200 schools, libraries and events from coast to coast each year including the Summerfest (the worlds largest music festival).

For many  years I have been touring with THOMAS THE TRAIN all over the USA.

My most ambitious project to date is attempting to record 12 CDs in one year...still working on that one.

When I'm not on tour or writing and recording  music, I spend time with my kids Wil, Taelor and wife Cathi.
